Rallying call for a greater collaboration in the maritime industry

We are pleased to share that AET’s naming ceremony for our newest aframax twin vessels, Eagle Barcelona and Eagle Brisbane, was featured on the Lloyd’s List online website, the shipping industry’s leading information provider, on Thursday, 25 January 2018. The article highlighted the first of our two auspicious and grand ceremonies, held at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Geoje, and also featured our senior management’s rally call for a greater collaboration in the maritime industry, amidst preparing for upcoming environmental regulations in 2020.

In the article, our AET Chairman and MISC President/Group CEO Mr Yee Yang Chien and AET President & CEO Capt. Rajalingam Subramaniam both urged for greater inclusivity in the industry, so as to work more collaboratively towards achieving mutual economic benefits. This means working together to finding more ways for efficient vessel operations, in line with our vision to consistently provide better energy related maritime solutions and services. One example in this case, is working with the Korean shipyard and class teams to ensure that the two named vessels in the article are fully compliant with incoming regulations, including ballast water management, sulphur emission control and the requirement for carbon monitoring, reporting and verification.

On the advantages, Capt. Raja asserted “The new ships benefit from the latest eco-friendly and energy efficient technology and world-class innovations that is not only positive for us, but also equally positive for our customers, environment and the communities in which we operate.”

AET and MISC are no strangers to Lloyd’s List, with Mr Yee featured in its annual top 100 most influential people list in 2017 & 2016 respectively.  This feature further projects to the industry of our commitment to operate the highest quality fleet of petroleum and chemical tankers that will meet our customers’ needs now and the foreseeable future while reducing our environmental footprint.
