In its second edition, AET President & CEO Hor Weng Yew has been ranked 10th of total 50 leaders in Tanker Shipping & Trade’s Industry Leaders special.
Comprising a series of profiles and interviews, Editor Edwin Lampert says, “In common with last year, the publication delivers insight not only on an individual’s achievement but also their motivations and sources of inspiration.”
Of all the interviews they’ve conducted, he notes the views that many of the leaders currently hold regarding the tanker cycle, including Weng Yew who believes that change has become the “new normal”.
Expounding on our latest achievements, including the new DP2 shuttle tanker sisters, the MCVs as well as turning 20, Weng Yew attributed our success to our firm belief in inhouse shipmanagement as well as our commitment to our people.
“We continue to invest heavily in our people and guarantee a supply of exceptionally well trained and experienced men and women through our partnership with the Malaysian merchant marine training academy (ALAM) and also through our own crewing agencies in India, Malaysia, the Philippines and Brazil”, he says.
Topping off with the icing on the cake, he continues, “Last year we recorded an entire year of zero lost-time injuries, which is continuing into 2015.”
