We are pleased to announce that our board of directors have unanimously confirmed Capt. Rajalingam Subramaniam for the position of AET’s President & CEO with effect from 1 January 2016. Capt. Raja has been overseeing the running of AET since July alongside his role as VP of Fleet Management Services at our parent company MISC Bhd.
Making the announcement, President/CEO of MISC Bhd Mr Yee Yang Chien says:
“I am extremely pleased that Capt. Raja has been confirmed in the role of President and CEO of our petroleum subsidiary. AET is a core part of the MISC Group and will play a significant part in our future. Before moving to MISC in 2008, Capt. Raja headed AET’s shipmanagement division, and so he has an indepth understanding of the company he is now to head. I have every confidence that he will continue to uphold the high standards that our customers and other stakeholders rightly demand from an ocean carrier.”
Accepting the role, Capt. Rajalingam Subramaniam says:
“I am delighted and honoured to take on this role. It comes at a time when the markets are just beginning to recover and when our fleet is rejuvenating and growing its breadth of capabilities. AET has a bright future and I look forward to be a part of that.”
A former seagoing officer and master mariner, Capt. Raja sailed onboard MISC vessels before serving ashore as a marine superintendent. Following an appointment in 2005 as Head of AET Shipmanagement, he moved to parent company MISC in 2008 as Vice President of Shipmanagement Services. Capt. Raja serves on the board of several MISC subsidiaries and joint venture companies and, until recently, was the Vice Chairman of Intertanko – a position he had held since 2012. In November this year, he was appointed Chairman of Intertanko’s new Gas Tankers Committee. He holds an MBA from Universiti Utara Malaysia and is an Honorary Commander of the Royal Malaysian Navy.
