Charting the course for energy transition

APPEC 2021 - Capt Raja

Our President & CEO Capt. Rajalingam Subramaniam recently participated in a panel discussion during the 37th Asia Pacific Petroleum Conference (APPEC) 2021 where he shared his insights on “Order book 2022: what does the industry need to do to deliver energy transition?” with industry leaders, policy makers, financiers from across the globe.

During the panel, Capt. Raja encouraged the industry players to take bolder steps to continue exploring longer-term solutions to achieve the IMO2030 and 2050 decarbonisation goals. In reducing carbon emissions and enabling cleaner shipping, he added that global carbon tax can be a solution when centrally coordinated and equitably proportioned to users of the products and services. However, to create a truly sustainable and decarbonised global trade network where sustainability can be realised across the global logistics network – and in an appropriate timeframe – we must all partner and work together towards a common goal and not wait until the last possible moment.
