We are honoured to have won the Maritime SG LowCarbon50 Award presented by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) and the UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS), at Singapore Maritime Week on 26 March 2025. The award recognises companies advancing maritime decarbonisation through emissions tracking and implementing effective carbon management strategies.
Decarbonisation is one of the three pillars of AET’s Energy Transition Strategy which sets our strategic direction to 2030. We have a target to reduce GHG emissions intensity in our shipping operations by 40% by 2030 (as compared to 2008 baseline) with an aspiration to achieve a 40% absolute reduction over the same period. These medium-term targets are complemented by a net-zero GHG emissions target across our business and value chain by 2050 as part of the MISC Group.
Our Tiered Decarbonisation Strategy outlines the actions we will take to achieve our 2030 shipping operations decarbonisation target, focusing on implementing energy efficiency technologies and innovative solutions across our fleet.
Beyond our shipping operations, which make up the vast majority of our total GHG footprint, we are taking steps to improve the breadth and accuracy of reporting for our scope 2 and scope 3 emissions. This will support our 2050 net zero goal which includes these emissions sources.
“Since 2017, we have invested significantly in the decarbonisation of our fleet, nine of our vessels are dual-fuel with a further five set to join the fleet by 2028. Alongside these investments, we remain committed to advancing emerging decarbonisation technologies and participating in collaborative industry initiatives. This award reinforces our commitment to delivering progress towards our 2050 net-zero goal as part of the MISC Group,” said Smriti Sharma, Global Director of Strategy, Sustainability and Enterprise Risk Management.
