Founded in Houston and now headquartered in Singapore, AET is a leading global provider of maritime transportation and specialised services.
1994 – 2004
1994: Founded as American Eagle Tankers, in Houston, with three vessels
2002: First two Very Large Crude Carriers arrived, acquired lightering competitor MTL Petrolink to become a leading force in US Gulf lightering
2003: Acquired by MISC and expanded to more than 50 crude tankers in the following year
2005 – 2014
2007: Rebranded as AET
2011: Commissioned the world’s first purpose-built Lightering Support Vessel and started lightering services in Latin America
2012: Expanded business in Latin America with the delivery of our first two Dynamic Positioning Shuttle Tankers in Brazil and took delivery of our first Suezmax tankers
2014: Operationalised the world’s first and only two Modular Capture Vessels
2015 – 2020
2015: Entered Norwegian market with delivery of two Dynamic Positioning Shuttle Tankers
2017: Pioneered two of the world’s first LNG dual-fuel Aframaxes
2020: Took delivery of two LNG dual-fuel Dynamic Positioning Shuttle Tankers for operations in the North and Barents Seas
2021 – 2024
2022: Two among the world’s first LNG dual-fuel Very Large Crude Carriers delivered, including Eagle Valence that was named Tanker of the Year and certified as a Green Ship by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. Additionally, took delivery of six Dynamic Positioning Shuttle Tankers.
2023: Inked a collaboration agreement with Akademi Laut Malaysia and Winterthur Gas & Diesel to drive the development of engines for ammonia dual-fuel vessels, took delivery of two LNG dual-fuel Very Large Crude Carriers, and secured Southeast Asia’s first sustainability-linked Islamic Revolving Credit Facility in the shipping industry.
2024: Celebrated our 30th anniversary. Delivered and named Eagle Veracruz, our latest Singapore-flagged LNG dual-fuel Very Large Crude Carrier, which also marked the Singapore Registry of Ship's 100 million gross tonnage milestone. Signed contracts with PETCO Trading Labuan Company Ltd and Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd to build two of the world’s first ammonia dual-fuel Aframaxes.
2025 - 2026
2025: Signed agreement with Fleetzero to develop the world’s longest-range hybrid-electric vessel. Will soon achieve dual-fuel capability across all tanker segments in our fleet with the order of two LNG dual-fuel Suezmax tankers to be built by Samsung Heavy Industries.
2026: Ordered our first hybrid-electric, dual-fuel ethanol-ready DPST, expanding our lower-emissions fleet. Successfully completed our first bio-LNG trial, a clear demonstration of our readiness for FuelEU Maritime compliance.
