On 26 March 2025, during Singapore Maritime Week, AET’s Global Director, Technical – Operations, HSSE & Decarbonisation, Capt. Pavan Kumar joined senior industry leaders at the Annual High-Level Meeting of the All Aboard Alliance, hosted by the Global Maritime Forum.
The focus of the meeting was to review and discuss the first draft of the All Aboard 2030 Ambition – a shared framework and evolving roadmap designed to drive real, measurable progress in advancing human sustainability across the maritime sector.
Discussions centred on three key priorities:
- Attracting and retaining talent – Leaders exchanged ideas on how to build clearer career pathways both at sea and ashore, invest in upskilling, and raise the profile of maritime careers to better compete for the next generation of talent.
- Improving working conditions – Conversations tackled everything from modernising policies and aligning industry standards to creating more inclusive workplaces.
- Raising the bar on health, safety, and wellbeing – From better mental health support to tech-enabled safety tools, participants shared ways to make seafaring safer.
A clear point of consensus was the need for collective accountability – a “coalition of the willing” – to turn ideas into action. As one speaker noted, politicians may come and go, but the industry’s moral compass must stay firmly set on making lasting improvements.
For AET, this dialogue is closely aligned with our broader Sustainability and Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) agenda, where the wellbeing of our people is recognised as a core enabler of performance and resilience.
In 2024, we adopted an enhanced Human Rights Policy which sets out a broader framework covering fair employment, workplace safety, freedom of association, community wellbeing, and the elimination of forced and child labour.
Building on this commitment, we joined the All Aboard Alliance later that year, taking an active step to align with like-minded maritime organisations focused on advancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and fostering a more innovative and sustainable industry.
“Supporting the All Aboard Alliance reflects our commitment to shaping a maritime industry where people are respected, protected and empowered – at sea and on shore. As the industry aligns around its 2030 ambition and charts a more inclusive course, AET is proud to play an active role in driving people-first progress,” said Capt. Pavan.
