What’s it like to navigate strong winds, shifting currents, rain, and fog — without ever leaving the shore?

Recently, Captain Brian Crawford and Captain Kyaw Han, both part of AET’s lightering operations team, put their skills to the test at our Lightering Support Vessel (LSV) Training Simulator in Galveston.

This state-of-the-art simulator replicates real-world conditions, providing AET’s mariners with an immersive training experience. From handling dynamic weather scenarios to navigating complex manoeuvres, this cutting-edge technology ensures our crew is equipped to meet the challenges of operating LSVs with confidence and precision while maintaining the highest standards of safety.
During the session, Captain Crawford and Captain Han also shared valuable feedback on the simulator’s performance, helping to fine-tune its capabilities for optimal training outcomes. Their insights ensure the simulator remains a highly effective tool for our mariners, tailored to the rigorous operational demands of the maritime industry.

This initiative reflects AET’s ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Looking ahead, we are excited to extend this valuable training opportunity to more of our crew members in Galveston, strengthening our team capabilities and reinforcing AET’s position as a leader in lightering support services in the US Gulf of Mexico.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes glimpse of our mariners at the training session!
