AET continues to challenge, learn and improve turning ambition into action in its Energy Transition journey with customers and partners, and recently completed its first Bio-LNG trial. This is a meaningful milestone in our decarbonisation journey and a clear demonstration of our readiness for FuelEU Maritime compliance.

The trial was carried out on Eagle Brasilia, a dual fuel Aframax, which completed Bio-LNG bunkering in Rotterdam before a cross-European voyage. Bio-LNG was consumed during the laden leg to meet FuelEU Maritime GHG intensity requirements, with the voyage successfully completed on 10 February.

The operation was executed seamlessly, with full technical guidance and approval from our engine partners, and completed safely end-to-end, with no operational or performance issues. The results affirm the technical compatibility of Bio-LNG with our existing dual fuel systems and provided valuable operational insights to support our future fuel strategy.

This achievement reflects AET’s disciplined, practical approach to decarbonisation with safety, compliance and operational excellence.

Our thanks to the crew of Eagle Brasilia, our ship manager and our Decarbonisation colleagues whose expertise, teamwork and professionalism made this possible. Their commitment continues to move our ambitions forward.

This milestone is part of AET’s broader commitment to deliver more energy with lower emissions. Click here to read more about our decarbonisation strategy.
