AET Highlights July 2023

CEO’s Message

I wish to begin by sharing my gratitude for the warm welcome extended by fellow members of the global maritime community over the past two months. I look forward to touching base with you in the months to come!

In June, we launched AET Connects 2022/2023, our annual publication that provides a comprehensive insight into our business and highlights our commitment to partnering with like-minded players for a sustainable future. The latest such milestone is the collaboration agreement we inked with ALAM and WinGD to drive the development of ammonia engines and required training to safely manage the new generation of zero emission vessels. These ammonia dual-fuel vessels will support AET’s and MISC Group’s commitment to deliver more energy with lower emission.

For the Day of the Seafarer, we joined the global maritime community to commemorate and pay tribute to our colleagues at sea who play a pivotal role in ensuring our success as a global leader in responsible and sustainable energy shipping. In upholding operational excellence, we recognise that maritime security and safety at sea are very important aspects. Therefore, I am very pleased that we, together with Eaglestar, hosted joint discussions with the International Fusion Centre on maritime security in Singapore, while in the US, 48 vessels have again been awarded the Jones F. Devlin Award for Safety by the Chamber of Shipping of America.

Finally, I would like to commend our Lightering Support team in Galveston for aiding a distressed sport fishing boat in the Gulf of Mexico, an example of how the safety of the community where we operate is as important to us.

I hope you will enjoy this edition of AET Highlights, thank you for your unwavering support!

Best regards,
Zahid Osman
AET President & CEO

Launch of AET Connects 2022/2023

We launched AET Connects 2022/2023 in June, our annual publication that enables us to reach out to our friends, customers, partners, colleagues, and other stakeholders around the world. This year’s publication touches on core areas including fortifying our existing operations; decarbonising our existing fleet operations and phasing out inefficient and carbon-intensive vessels; as well as exploring low-carbon business and partnership opportunities emerging from the energy transition.

Themed “Powering Tomorrow; Partnering for a Sustainable Maritime Future”, this edition encapsulates our forward-thinking plan to build resilience by focusing on the future of the energy value chain through innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.

Collaborating towards a just transition

In conjunction with Malaysia Maritime Week in June, AET, ALAM and Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD) inked a collaboration agreement that aims to drive the development of ammonia engines for ammonia dual-fuel vessels, marking a historical milestone as the first of its kind in the world for deep-sea vessels. The development of ammonia fueled vessels will help us deliver much needed energy commodities while reducing GHG emissions as we play our part contributing to our and MISC Group’s commitment to decarbonisation.

Furthermore, at the Nor-Shipping conference held in Oslo, Norway, our colleagues from Stavanger attended various panel discussions where different maritime stakeholders gathered and exchanged industry insights. AET was also featured for its strategic investments in the 2023 Nor-Shipping magazine and through a video advertisement showcased at the conference.

Our commitment to maritime security and safety at sea

In enhancing maritime security, we hosted a joint discussion with the Information Fusion Centre and Eaglestar in our Singapore office to share knowledge and explore opportunities for further cooperation. AET will continue to collaborate and partner with like-minded stakeholders to ensure safety at sea.

In addition, we are proud that 48 of our vessels have again been awarded the Jones F. Devlin Award for Safety by the Chamber of Shipping of America in June this year for operating a total of 328 years with no lost-time injuries.

The Captain and crew of our Lightering Support Vessel AET Responsibility aided a distressed sport fishing boat in the Gulf of Mexico on 13 June 2023. We commend their swift response in a time of need. This is an example of our commitment to safety which not only encompasses our own operations, but also extends to the safety of the community in which we operate.

Celebrating the Day of the Seafarer

On the Day of the Seafarer, we paid tribute to our colleagues at sea who play a pivotal role in ensuring our success as a global leader in sustainable energy shipping. Big thanks to all seafarers for your immeasurable contributions to global maritime trade!
