CEO Message
It’s been wonderful engaging with many of you since joining in March. During this time, I gained deeper insights into the values and vision that drive AET. It is clear that AET is driven by passionate people committed to delivering progress through innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Above all, we must remain laser-focused on Safety. We must never compromise, and we owe it to one another that everyone gets home safely. There is always room to improve, and we must all strive towards making things better and safer for all. I’d like to thank our HSSE (health, safety, security and environment) and operational teams for their continued dedication, and in driving us forward. We must ensure that safe operations go hand in hand with reliable service as we deliver on our promises to customers.
I’ve also had the opportunity to meet many of our customers, partners, and colleagues across the business. I’ve been deeply impressed by the professionalism, energy and shared sense of purpose that defines AET. These early conversations highlighted where we perform well, and where we can do better. I look forward to building on these relationships and working together to raise the bar further in how we operate and how we deliver.
As we reflect on recent months, I am particularly proud of our continued leadership in maritime decarbonisation. Our agreement with Fleetzero to develop the world’s longest-range hybrid-electric vessel is a testament to our drive for cutting-edge, sustainable solutions. Likewise, receiving the Maritime SG LowCarbon50 Award reinforces the progress we are making toward reducing our emissions and achieving our 2050 GHG net-zero target as part of MISC Group. These milestones are not just wins for AET, but contributions to a greener future for the maritime industry as a whole.
At the same time, we remain committed to fostering a more inclusive and diverse maritime sector. As a member of the All Aboard Alliance, we stand with industry peers to drive meaningful change, and ensure that our workplace and the wider industry remain welcoming and supportive for all.
The maritime industry continues to evolve rapidly, and AET is well-positioned to lead in this transition. Our participation in industry forums, investments in alternative fuel technologies, and commitment to innovation will ensure we continue to drive meaningful conversations and set new benchmarks in sustainable shipping.
We’ll continue to push boundaries, innovate, and work together in #deliveringProgress. Thank you for your continued support, and I hope you enjoy this edition of AET Highlights.
Best Regards,
Nick Potter

AET Joins the United Nations Global Compact
AET has joined the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, expanding its commitment to responsible and transparent business practices across its global operations.
This builds on the progress we’ve made in 2024, including our enhanced Human Rights Policy, and membership in the All Aboard Alliance. As a signatory of the UN Global Compact, we’ll continue integrating its Ten Principles into the way we do business, support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and report publicly on our progress each year.
“Joining the UN Global Compact reflects AET’s commitment to operating with integrity, fairness and responsibility. By aligning ourselves with this global framework, we are reinforcing our focus on high standards – not only in how we treat people and protect the environment, but in how we conduct our business. As part of the wider MISC Group, we remain firmly committed to transparency, accountability and contributing to meaningful change across our industry,” said Nick Potter, President & CEO, AET.
Putting People First: AET at the All Aboard Alliance High-Level Meeting
During Singapore Maritime Week, AET’s Global Director, Technical – Operations, HSSE & Decarbonisation, Capt. Pavan Kumar joined senior industry leaders at the Annual High-Level Meeting of the All Aboard Alliance, hosted by the Global Maritime Forum.
The session focused on shaping the All Aboard 2030 Ambition, a shared industry roadmap for advancing human sustainability, with priorities including talent development, working conditions, and wellbeing at sea.
“Supporting the All Aboard Alliance reflects our commitment to shaping a maritime industry where people are respected, protected and empowered – at sea and on shore. As the industry aligns around its 2030 ambition and charts a more inclusive course, AET is proud to play an active role in driving people-first progress,” said Capt. Pavan.
AET Receives Maritime SG LowCarbon50 Award for Leadership in Decarbonisation
We are honoured to have won the Maritime SG LowCarbon50 Award presented by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) and the UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS), at Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) on 26 March 2025. The award recognises companies advancing maritime decarbonisation through emissions tracking and implementing effective carbon management strategies.
“Since 2017, we have invested significantly in the decarbonisation of our fleet, nine of our vessels are dual-fuel with a further five set to join the fleet by 2028. Alongside these investments, we remain committed to advancing emerging decarbonisation technologies and participating in collaborative industry initiatives. This award reinforces our commitment to delivering progress towards our 2050 net-zero goal as part of the MISC Group,” said Smriti Sharma, Global Director of Strategy, Sustainability and Enterprise Risk Management.
Navigating the Maritime Energy Transition - One Step Forward or Two Steps Back?
At the recent 8th Mare Forum Singapore, AET’s Global Director of Strategy & Sustainability and Enterprise Risk Management, Smriti Sharma, joined industry leaders for an open and candid discussion on the maritime energy transition.
The verdict? Progress is happening, but it’s uneven. Sustaining momentum requires pragmatic solutions, stronger industry alignment, and long-term investment in scalable low-carbon alternatives, along with the infrastructure and market ecosystem needed to support them.
AET isn’t just talking about the transition, we are making it happen by investing in alternative fuel technologies, expanding our LNG dual-fuel fleet, and pioneering the world’s first ammonia dual-fuel Aframax tankers. Decarbonisation is a collective challenge, and no company can do this alone. This is why we are working closely with regulators, charterers, and technology partners, to scale impact and turn our ambition into action.

Shaping the Net Zero Dialogue: AET at the 2025 Maritime Decarbonisation Conference Asia
At the recent Maritime Decarbonisation Conference Asia, held in Singapore just days after the IMO endorsed the world’s first global carbon pricing plan for the industry, our Global Director of Technical – Operations, HSSE and Decarbonisation, Capt. Pavan Kumar, joined speakers on the panel session titled “Net Zero Plans, Pathways and Challenges”.
“Regulations will play a pivotal role in shaping how we move forward – but the real question is who pays for what,” he noted. “Retrofits, biofuels, carbon capture – all come with significant capital expenditure. If we want to build a resilient ecosystem, we need to find win-win solutions where investment responsibilities are shared fairly across the value chain.”
The IMO’s support for the GHG pricing, as part of the net zero framework marks a turning point for the industry. With steeper CII targets and GHG levies on the horizon, AET remains committed to being part of these conversations – bringing a practical lens, sharing lessons from our decarbonisation journey, and working with others to help shape a more sustainable future for shipping.
Celebrating Singapore’s Rich Maritime Heritage
Our Singapore-based Executive Leadership Team and Corporate Communications colleagues attended the opening of the refreshed Singapore Maritime Gallery.
