On 30 April 2025, AET joined industry peers at the Argus Clean Ammonia North America Conference, in Houston, Texas where David Baker, Director of Commercial – Offshore and Global Lightering, spoke on a panel to discuss the evolving market for marine fuels and the potential of clean ammonia as a viable alternative.

The session, “Offtake market: Marine fuels — what has clarity, what has been gained in 2025 and where to next?”, brought together speakers from Amogy, Navigator Gas, and NYK Group Americas. They discussed advancements in ammonia-fuelled engines, key demonstration projects, and insights from tugboat case studies. They also explored the impact of MEPC 83 and the IMO’s revised greenhouse gas reduction strategy.

Speaking on the panel, Baker offered perspective on how AET is preparing for these shifts. “AET has been implementing changes to align with Net Zero 2050 prior to the IMO’s regulations and will continue to do so,” he said. “What is of utmost importance to us is safety, and so we will work to ensure safety no matter what changes.” He later continued the topic of compliance across the industry, “We cannot be sure what level of compliance we will see across companies and countries but for AET, we will work to decarbonise and explore viable alternative fuels to continuously grow and develop alongside the maritime industry.”

AET’s participation reflects its commitment to working with industry peers and stakeholders to exchange ideas, share practical experience, and help drive the transition towards lower-carbon shipping.
