ENVIRONMENT

As a tanker owner and operator, issues on climate change, ocean health and natural resource use are material to our business.
The strategic priorities under the Environment pillar are driven by the aim to reduce carbon emissions from the fleet and manage climate-related risks and opportunities. In short to medium term, we are focusing on reducing our Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions complying with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) 2030 and 2050 targets. Our long-term approach is to aggressively decarbonise our fleet, including adopting zero-emission technologies.

Our key commitment under this pillar is to care for the environment and operate responsibly.

TOWARDS DECARBONISATION

Our Commitment

  • Transition to low carbon operations
  • Zero-carbon emission vessel by 2030
  • Decarbonised shipping operations by 2050

Our Initiatives

SHIPPING OPERATIONS

Short term (2021-2025) to Medium term (2021 – 2030)

  • Continual improvement in Energy Efficiency Designs and vessel operations
  • Progressive fleet renewal to low carbon fuel
  • Collaboration with strategic partners on developing zero-emission vessels

Long term (2030 – 2050)

  • Progressive fleet renewal to decarbonised fuel

OTHER INITIATIVES

  • Improve Energy Efficiency in operations
  • Increase usage of renewable energy mix

Our Contribution to UNSDGs

Design or retrofit sustainable assets which optimise resource-use efficiency with greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies
Design and operate assets that can reduce effects of climate change

PROMOTING CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Our Commitment

  • To promote the elimination of waste and recycling of resources
  • To increase the usage of renewable resources

Our Initiatives

  • Practise 4R – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (Waste to Value Concept)
  • Practise Green Ship Recycling
  • Greater Renewable Resource Utilisation

Our Contribution to UNSDGs

Ensure sustainable consumption by promoting circular economy (eliminating waste and the continual use of renewable resources) and sustainable procurement practices

BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION

Our Commitment

To conserve and rehabilitate marine biodiversity by supporting:

  • Sustainable reef management
  • Sea-turtle conservation

Our Initiatives

Collaborative partnerships to promote and conduct marine biodiversity conservation are as follows:
  • Our Group’s Biodiversity Conservation Flagship Programme (Reef conservation and marine debris/plastics management at Mersing Island, Johor, Malaysia)
  • Our Group’s Sea-turtle conservation at Pulau Redang, Terengganu in Malaysia

Our Contribution to UNSDGs

Sustainability restore, protect, and manage marine ecosystems
